After a year growing plants in the new garden I found the clay soil on the left side of the garden to be quite challenging. I've been adding organic matter whenever possible and mulching with shredded cedar, but it's a slow process and this clay is like nothing I have ever seen before. I can place two plants, one on either side of the garden, and the plants on the right side where there is more of a sandy loam, grow 2-4 times bigger than the plants on the left side. It's really amazing.
