Recycled Christmas Card Ideas
Thrifty Recycling Ideas
If you save cards like I do, you are probably wondering what you could do with them. I hate to throw them away. Especially since people took the time to send them to me. That is not all that common these days. These ideas would also work well with any type of card.
I love to read and I know many people who still like to read traditional books, so this first idea is to turn the cards into bookmarks. This can be achieved by cutting out the pretty parts of the cards with a paper cutter, regular scissors or scissors that cut fancy edges. You can also further decorate them with paper punches and stickers. Include the bookmark with any book that you might be giving as a gift. Make it even more special by making the bookmark out of a card that was given to you by the recipient of your gift.
Need extra gift tags? Make some out of last year's Christmas cards. Same idea as above; decorate with ribbons and bows.
If money is a little tight this year, but you still want to send out Holiday Greetings, turn last year's cards into postcards. You won't have to buy cards and postcards cost less to send in the mail. Just make sure that they are the appropriate size. The United States Postal Service requires that the postcards be no less than 3-1/2" high x 5" long and no larger than 4-1/4" high x 6" long.
My favorite use for recycled cards is to make ornaments out of them. View detailed instructions on how to make them here.
