Uses for Borax

  • Sprinkle on mattress, wait a few hours, vacuum to get rid of bed bugs.
  • Clean outdoor furniture with 1 teaspoon dish soap, 1 teaspoon borax and 1 quart warm water; spray, scrub, then rinse.
  • Dry and preserve flowers by covering blooms with powdered borax stored in a covered container for 7-10 days.
  • Add 3 tablespoons to garbage disposal, wait three hours, then rinse with very warm water to clean and deodorize.
  • Mix with sugar, 50/50, to kill ants, roaches and waterbugs.

  • Kill fleas by sprinkling on carpet, wait at least one hour, then vacuum.
  • Make a rust remove with 1 cup borax, 2 cups warm water and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
  • Keep bugs out of the garbage pail by sprinkling borax in the bottom of the pail.
  • Sprinkle around the perimeter of the house to keep out ants and mice; avoid sprinkling on or around plants.
  • Remove stubborn stains in clothing and on carpet by dampening the spot with warm water, rubbing borax into the stain and let it sit until dry, then wash as usual or vacuum rug as normal.
